Lili's thought for the day

In my eye, nothing kills a man's sex appeal more effectively than dressing him in formal attire. Yes, you do look "smart", but "smart" and sexy are two entirely different things. Suits are all about minimizing the differences between ruined and non-ruined bodies. Suits are all about pretending. When I look at a photo of a wedding party, I'm thinking "glorified apes".

  1. So, what do you think of the U.S. Navy's officers' summer Dress White uniform, known informally as "sword and choker"?

You can't look good in that unless you are in good shape. Seeing a guy wearing one of those famously makes wimmins panties wet, 'specially if he is sporting the famous Wings of Gold. Please see that movie, "An Officer and a Gentleman."

  2. Yes, I know a lot of ladies like a man in uniform, and so many military uniforms seem to have been designed to make a man look as manly as huMANLY possible.

A white uniform looks great if it is really white. Unfortunately white shows stains. I have an unpleasant memory about a white Australian navy uniform, from a visit to an "open day" at a navy base. I won't elaborate, in the interests of good taste.

I have met quite a few blokes who have served in the Australian navy, by virtue of the fact that I've got a gay rellie.

  3. As a 10-year-old boy, rising 60, I say, what is this "good taste" of which you speak?

Was it vomit, or some other fluid, which discolored that fella's uniform?

On the gay rellie, and his acquaintances:

One can't think about sailors without thinking about homo jokes. I mind the horrible turret fire aboard USS Iowa a few years back, when the Naval Investigative Service sought to blame it on an "homosexual love triangle." As it turned out, the sailors they blamed were perfectly hetero, but had been heard making homo jokes about each other, as sailors (having a low sense of humor) are wont to do.

There is an excellent book about that, called "A Glimpse of Hell." I commend it to your attention.

P.s. I suspect the Warrant Gunner in that business to have been an Aspie.

WV: extuba. No Ma'am, I'd rather be an ex-euphonium.

  4. Yes, I'm probably flattering myself with claims of "good taste", but some things are simply beyond the pale.

I think I recall that fire and the inquiry after it. An unpleasant business. I'm not convinced that a bit of nookie is such a threat to military discipline anyway. I do know that our navy currently has a bad reputation for unpleasant unconsensual behaviour and rusted out vessels.

In the distant past there was one ship in the Aust navy that had a reputation as a place where a fairy could find a friend. I wish I could recall the name of it. It would be interesting to find out if it was an effective part of the fleet.
