  2. Hey! I was taught formal manners when young. That doesn't seem to help when dealing with some of the younger folk these days.

I got along just fine with the nice old lady, my cat's former human, who used to live around the corner. Of course she was gently reared, too, out in Malaya in the '20s, where her Dad ran the Central Mental Hospital.

She poured some excellent whisky, also liked band music, and we would watch Book Notes together on C-SPAN. She was not one of those annoying people who insist on facing one and looking at his eyes all the time. We got along right well.

You sound like dear old Temple Grandin.

  4. Oh, you betcha! I completely and utterly concur with her on that matter.

I give you the example of Miss Amanda Baggs. About the only area in which I disagree with Miss Amanda Baggs is the area of manners.

Miss Baggs is a wonderful person, smarter than I in many ways, and she knows lots of things I don't know.

Unfortunately, she was raised in California, where rudeness advances and politeness must retreat. Were it not for her natural rationality and good nature, she would be hard to put up with.

  5. P.s. I'll have you know, Ma'am, that I just turned sixty, recently. The fifties in America were damn' near paradisiacal compared to how things are here now, and acknowleged as such by all who were alive then. (and still have working brains)

  6. I believe the 50s were a great decade for lobotomies. Not a fun time for all.

  7. Lobotomies were among the many evil things the Progressives foisted upon us. You need to read some American history. Hell, most Americans need to read some American history. Not that they will do so, or that it will do those doo-dahs any good.

Oh God I hate Pwogs (Pwogwessives) and all their works! They made a damn-near religion of minding other people's business, "for their own good."

M'self? I think those conservative people are nuts, always fighting a losing battle. I am proud to be a reactionary.
