Great image! Thanks for sharing. Clearly a very young Daniel, and similar in theme to those unlisted YouTube videos of Daniel at Q and A sessions with the late Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IV.
I don't know the full story about these videos. I'm reluctant to conclude that Tammet converted, because that might have some pretty heavy implications. I think he might have been no more than curious. He did have a keen interest in historical matters and questions and mysteries in his youth (described in his first book and verified by an old school friend), and Daniel had a school friend with I think an Islamic background. I think these two elements of his life at this age explain adequately why he met with this religious leader.
Any more interesting images? I don't suppose there were any photos taken of the competitors of the WMC 1999 or 2000?
There's photos and a video of him actually converting as well buried somewhere in Youtube, probably on this channel. Qayoom has written that he converted on 10th June 1995 in Croydon. He has a box of around 300 items of correspondence from Tammet which was given to him when Tammet moved from the UK. I have been researching his early life for years and look forward to the updated edition of your book. Is it out yet?
Wow, check out this image. Didn't he convert to Islam at some stage?

ReplyDeleteI know that Qayoom wrote a lot in various places about Tammet quite a few years ago, and I know some of it is no longer available.
ReplyDeleteThere's a quite recent version of my book here:
