Were any low functioning, intellectually disabled adults with Autistic Disorder included as subjects in the "research"?

I guess not, as the study in this particular paper were of people diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. This paper appears to be the second part of a two-part investigation, of which this is the first part:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17680932
which is a study of "a broad sample of 38 autistic children".

I invite you to take the time to read the paper before dismissing it. And perhaps you should also seek a proper medical explanation if you have a family member who has unexplained intellectual disability. In my opinion the label "autism" is nothing like an adequate or professional explanation for ID.
