Lili's uncharitable thought of the day

You will probably not be surprised that I have kids who hold strong views on many issues, and now and then I hear one of them say stuff like "Oh, I wish such and such pretentious/crooked public figure would die a horrible slow death in an oil fire.", and being a good parent who wishes to set a good moral example, I say, "Now, don't say such things, that isn't nice." But sometimes I can't help feeling similar sentiments.

As someone who is trying to be a good Christian, I know I'm not supposed to think thoughts such as, "I hope that person dies in a fire." but I do confess that my idea of an ideal job, sometimes, late at night when I am thinking evil thoughts, would be planting anti-personnel mines on golf courses. Sorry, I have to live in Southern Florida and I passionately hate golf, and, yes, most golfers.

My county has close to two hundred golf courses in it, and exactly one shooting range, which seems to be open only on every third Wednesday, or something like that. This is just wrong, and upside down, and backwards.

P.s. You and Clay were predictably wrong about Jared Lee Loughner. He was a paranoid schizophrenic, and if he had any politics at all, it seems they were leftish. The Left is, and always has been, much more violent and crazy than the Right.

I'm glad that the Congresscritter he shot lived, and am sad that the Judge he shot died. By all accounts that judge was a righteous man, and so many people wanted to attend his funeral mass that most of them could not get into the church. A bunch of people who were not useless Demonrat congresscritters got shot that day, but she's the only one the MSM seems to care about

Your comments regarding golf courses remind me of that movie Falling Down, (which hubby and I rather enjoyed when it came out). Eldest child has found the scene on YouTube in which the nerdy angry bloke shoots up the golf buggy, and we've had a jolly good laugh, but I don't condone doing wicked things with firearms, not even to golfers. 200 golf courses???? That is ridiculous.

Regarding the American armed murderer, I'm sceptical about claims about famous people having schizophrenia. Today I had a quick look at Frankie magazine (an upmarket Aussie mag for young ladies) and there was one of those filler stories about how creative mentally ill people are supposed to be, and it included the claim that Syd Barrett and a couple of other famous people had/have schizophrenia, which is bulls*** in each case.

I'm not very knowledgable about US politics. What is MSM?

MSM = Mainstream Media, that is, legacy media, the old newspapers and the Network TV, that is, the Official Version, as distinguished from what strange true facts we weird bloggers dig up and point out.

Hey, you started it! I just thought along and added to it. Thinking evil thoughts about hurting and killing people, even if you don't act on them, can warp one's mind, I believe. I try not to think evil thoughts about people, except for golfers, of course. (Snork!)

Why do you have such an animus against firearms? You being a woman, I would think you'd like to have an equalizer, if confronted by a violent male person.

Of all the women I have spent more than a few minutes with, it seems that three-quarters of them keep a Smith&Wesson about them at all times, with a permit to carry. Of course I am a Southern guy, from Georgia, and have only hung out with Southern girls. We say here, that if Bill Clinton had married a Southern girl instead of that DamnedYankee bitch, he would not be alive at this time. A righteous Southern gal would have emptied the cylinder of her revolver into him the first time she caught him fucking some silly bimbo.

Things are a lot different here in Australia. Less guns, so less need to keep a gun, which is just how I like it.

I did keep a knife on my person many years ago when I travelled alone. This horrified many people, which I think is hypocrisy. I never need to pull it out in my travels in Australia.

Hey, a knife is not just a weapon. It is also a tool. I have a Boy Scout pocket knife in my pocket at this very moment. One of the last favors I did for my ex-sweety, before she decided that we were ex-sweeties, was to put a shaving edge on her Girl Scout knife, which she has retained since she was eight years old, or so.

I didn't know the Girl Guides had knives.

Its true, knives and scissors are handy to carry on one's person, but I doubt that one can justify keeping a man-killer machete in one's handbag.

There is one brand of ladies' sandal that is made of solid wood that has the potential to be an excellent defensive or offensive weapon. They are also very handy for killing bugs and spiders, and could be applied to other troublesome small creatures. One should think twice about using this type of footwear in a gesture of shoe-throwing political protest, because if one gets a direct hit with these killer clogs one could end up doing serious time.

"man-killer machete in one's handbag"

I reckon it wouldn't fit. I used to have a small one which would just fit in my briefcase diagonally, as it were. It was a nice little piece, made in Brazil, with handle made of right-pretty tropical wood. I wonder what became of it.

Lili Marlene said...

I'm not sure why one might carry a machete in one's briefcase, and I'm not sure how one could misplace such a thing. Please take care with your interesting weapons, Justthisguy.

Justthisguy said...

I did not misplace it. It was lost, along with most of my books, most of my tools, most of the things I had saved from my childhood, when I suddenly became unable to pay the storage fees on them, due to the machinations of the person I refer to as my ex-brother and the crooked lawyer I mistakenly hired to defend me against him. My reasonably sizable inheritance has mostly disappeared.

I did not carry that thing in my briefcase, except once. I was mostly curious to see if it would fit. As you know, I have more efficient weapons, which go boom.

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. It is such a common thing for families to break up over inheritance. The stories I could tell.
